Certipur-Us Certified Mattresses
All of our mattresses, from our baby mattresses to our top-of-the-line, high-end mattresses, are certiPUR-US certified.
Our mattresses are manufactured without ozone-depleting substances, TDCPP or TCEP flame retardants, or PBDEs (man-made brominated organic compounds). This also means that our mattresses have been designed without mercury, lead or other heavy metals, and without formaldehyde or benzene.

Low VOC Emissions
We spend a third of our lives sleeping on our bed. That's a lot of time spent on a mattress, especially if it is not healthy for you...
With Polysleep, this is not the case. Polysleep mattresses are first and foremost designed to be safe. All of them have passed the VOC (volatile organic compound) emission tests with flying colors, being well below the recommended 0.5 parts per million.
Polysleep non-toxic mattresses have no impact on your air quality. There’s nothing to stop you from spending a third of your life snoozing peacefully.

No Flame Retardants
Flame retardants (or PBDEs) are known to be harmful to health. Despite this, many products destined for the North American market contain them without our knowledge.
Since 2008, these products have been banned in Canada. At Polysleep, we fully support this initiative. This is why we have excluded all flame retardants from our production line from the start.

FAQ
Mattresses created from chemicals can release volatile organic compounds, also known as VOCs. These are elements that can easily spread in the air and, when breathed in too large quantities, are known to cause health problems.
A toxic mattress is therefore a mattress that releases too many of these famous VOCs into the air. The most well-known toxic products contained in some mattresses are flame retardants, formaldehyde, and benzene.
In the minds of consumers, this potential toxicity has often been associated with memory foam mattresses (or memory foam).
But be careful!
Many innerspring and hybrid mattresses also contain potentially harmful chemicals and have high VOC levels.
So, no matter what type of mattress you're looking to buy, you need to take the time to get informed.
To know if a mattress is toxic or not, we recommend that you make sure it does not contain flame retardants, formaldehyde, or benzene. The VOC content of the mattress should also be as low as possible (if at all).
Any mattress that contains these products or has a high VOC content should be eliminated from your list of potential choices.
Some mattress companies may not be very communicative about the products they use or the certifications of their mattresses. Be on guard! If these topics are not being addressed, it's probably because there's something fishy going on.
A reminder of what to look for in a mattress to be considered non-toxic:
-
Ensure that the VOC content is as low as possible;
-
Make sure it does not contain flame retardants, formaldehyde, or benzene;
-
Check to see if it has a serious certification proving its non-toxicity.
For example, all Polysleep non-toxic mattresses have CertiPUR-US certification, which proves that our mattresses have virtually zero volatile organic compound emissions and are manufactured without the use of heavy metals or flame retardants.
Unfortunately, it is not our place to tell you.
However, what we can suggest is that you take the time to check the components of the mattresses you are interested in. Look at their composition and the certifications they have. Review the steps in the question "How do I know if a mattress is toxic or not?" if you don't know how to proceed.
And if you can't get all the answers to your questions, don't hesitate to contact the mattress companies to ask your questions directly.
Once you've figured out which Canadian non-toxic mattresses you're interested in, all you have to do is let your own criteria guide you. Like, for example, what type of comfort and quality you are looking for.
