The Polysleep Mattress

Unboxing the Polysleep Mattress

The Polysleep mattress arrives in a box made of recycled cardboard that is compostable to reduce its carbon footprint.

The box weighs between 33 lbs (single mattress) and 89 lbs (king mattress), so its recommended that two people lift the box.

It opens from the top, revealing the rolled mattress, vacuum packed.

There are no additional tools or plastic cutters. All this is done to eliminate excess plastic waste.

    The Endy Mattress

    Unboxing the Endy Mattress

The Endy mattress is delivered in a cardboard box on which different colors and dyes are printed to display their brand and signature.

This box weighs between 43lb (Single) and 92lb (King), it's also recommended that two people lift the box.

It has an easy to use tab that allows you to open it from either side.

It contains an instruction manual, as well as a disposable plastic cutter to open the plastic film.

      How does the mattress feel?

Let's compare the difference between the support and firmness of both mattresses!

The first mistake would be to confuse support with firmness, because some softer mattresses will offer more support than a firm mattress. Despite popular belief, a quality foam mattress can also offer all the support you are looking for, while being softer.

        The Endy Mattress

Liquid error (snippets/sidebyside_block.liquid line 437): include usage is not allowed in this context

Let's compare the bounciness of each mattress

What's the point of a good bounce?

A good rebound is synonymous with better foam reactivity. This avoids the feeling of having difficulty moving properly in the mattress when sinking. Quality foam allows you to feel the sensation of "floating" without weight and to relieve the pressure on your body. It's time for the test!

          The Polysleep Mattress

          Polysleep foam control

For this test, we wanted to present in real time the reactivity or "rebound" of the foam. The Polysleep mattress has a denser surface, with an almost imperceptible rebound time.

            The Endy Mattress

            Endy foam control

We did the exact same test with the Endy mattress. Also, we can say that it has a fast bounce time associated with a visible motion transfer due to its less dense foam.

The liquid test between Polysleep and Endy!

An integrated water-repellent cover is an excellent feature to consider when buying a mattress. Protecting the inner foam layers from spills or accidents can greatly improve the life of your mattress. But finding a cover with a water-repellent treatment that works, is comfortable, and breathable, is another story! Here are the results of our tests!

              The Polysleep Mattress

              Polysleep water repellency test

The Polysleep mattress has a very airy and light water-repellent cover which is removable and can be washed.

During our liquid resistance test, we poured about 2 cups of water on the surface of the mattress. The water was instantly repelled and rolled off the surface of the cover onto the floor. The remaining liquid was easily wiped off, with no water or stains remaining.

                The Endy Mattress

                Endy water repellency test

Although the Endy mattress cover is removable and washable, it is not water repellent. Their website suggests covering the Endy Mattress with a mattress protector, which tends to restrict air circulation.

We applied the same test with 2 cups of water, and the mattress instantly absorbed all the liquid. It is therefore absolutely necessary to add an additional mattress protector to limit the risk of deterioration of the mattress.

Let's compare the support on the edges of each mattress

The main problem faced by people who switch from an innerspring mattress to a foam mattress is the lack of support on the edges of the mattress. In fact, most foam mattresses do not provide edge support. However, this is an important feature for two reasons:

1: More support at the edges means less risk of your mattress sagging over time.
2: People with hip pain or difficulty getting up in a low position will be able to do so without effort, just like on a traditional mattress.

                  The Polysleep Mattress

Support on the edges of the Polysleep mattress

The Polysleep mattress has an integrated support frame that surrounds the entire mattress. This feature is exclusive to the Polysleep mattress and allows a true end-to-end support and a more balanced sleeping surface.

We notice a lesser sagging on the edges of the Polysleep mattress, especially when taking the white part of the cover as a reference.

                    The Endy Mattress

Support on the edges of the Endy mattress

The Endy mattress does not have any integrated support around the mattress. This video clearly shows the sagging at the edges of the mattress and the sinking sensation that can be felt when sitting on the edge of the mattress.

                      Motion Transfer Test

Nobody likes to toss and turn at night. Having a mattress that reduces motion transfer allows you and/or your partner to rest more deeply without being disturbed! Click on the videos below to discover our 3 motion transfer tests that cover both the edge and the inner surface areas of each mattress.

                      The Polysleep Mattress

                      Polysleep Motion Transfer

The Polysleep mattress has a rating of 9/10 for the reduction of motion transfer. The edges and interior zones of the mattress have withstood all tests resulting in a truly balanced sleeping surface, so there is no fear of being disturbed and/or disturbing your partner by moving during the night!

The tests shows a perfect isolation of movements on the mattress.

Here are other tests performed on the Polysleep mattress by specialized sites:

                      - Motion transfer test by The Sleep Sherpa

                      - Motion transfer test by The Mattress Advisor

                        The Endy Mattress

                        Endy Motion Transfer

The Endy mattress has a rating of 6/10 for the reduction of motion transfer. Unlike the Polysleep mattress which has 4 layers of foam, the Endy mattress has 3.

The test shows that motion transfert is highly evident for Endy compared to Polysleep. Therefore, you are more likely to be disturbed in your sleep by your better half, and vice versa.

Support on the edges of the mattress: Kettlebell Test

                          The Polysleep Mattress

Kettlebell test on the Polysleep mattress

For this test, both a 10 and 50-pound kettlebell were dropped on the edges of the mattress. We noticed that the Polysleep mattress effectively absorbed the pressure of the weight.

The kettlebell did not roll off the mattress despite the impact. This visual test shows a better support on the edges of the mattress and a truly balanced sleep surface.

                            The Endy Mattress

Kettlebell test on the Endy mattress

The same test was performed on the Endy mattress.

Once the kettlebell was thrown, we noticed that the edges of the mattress could not absorb the pressure of the kettlebell. The kettlebell rolled off the bed, showing less support on the edges of the mattress.

                              Conclusion

The objective of this Endy vs Polysleep comparison was to show you through tests and analyses based only on facts the differences between the Polysleep and Endy mattresses.

We each have different sleeping needs and that is why it is important to compare and understand which features are important to you.

Here is a quick summary of the main differences observed to help you in your choice of mattress:

                              Endy:

                              • The foam: The foam used by Endy takes longer to return to its original shape. Therefore, we can expect a shorter life-span of the mattress.

                              • The mattress cover: Despite its beautiful appearance, it does not offer a water-repellent treatment. It is advised to be careful when handling liquids or to buy an additional protective cover.

                              • Support on the edges of the mattress: Tests have shown less support on the edges of the Endy mattress, with the ends sagging when sat upon. This lack of support will not do the trick for people who tend to sleep on their side, or seek a more balanced sleep surface.

                              • Firmness: The Endy mattress layers are less firm than similar products on the market with a firmness index of 5/10. This mattress will suit people who appreciate softer mattresses. It is important to keep in mind that the higher the firmness, the higher the quality and durability. If you are looking for a mattress that offers medium to high firmness, you may be disappointed by the lack of firmness of the Endy mattress.

                              • Financing option: Endy offers a 0% financing option. However, this does not work during periods of sales or offers on the mattress.

                              Polysleep:

                              • The foam: Following our tests, we noticed that the foam used in the Polysleep mattress has a better rebound and returns faster than the one used in the Endy mattress. The hybrid foam used by Polysleep is known for its superior quality and will allow your mattress to withstand the test of time.

In addition, the foam used by Polysleep sets itself apart with its antimicrobial treatment certified ISO 20743:2013. You'll benefit from a healthier sleeping surface, by highly reducing the amount of germs that accumulate each year in your mattress.

                              • The mattress cover: The Polysleep mattress cover offers a water-repellent protection thanks to a liquid-repellent treatment. The treatment does not reduce the breathability of the mattress at all. You can enjoy long breakfasts in bed with complete peace of mind!

                              • Mattress edge support: The Polysleep mattress is developed with an integrated support frame layer, made of dense foam to offer more comfort and support on the edges. In addition, the high density foam base layer acts as a box spring and provides additional reinforcement.

                              • Firmness: The Polysleep mattress offers a firmness index of 6.5/10 corresponding to a moderately firm surface. The mattress will meet the needs of people who appreciate the "soft" feeling of a mattress but who are looking for a fairly firm sleeping surface at the same time.

                              • Financing option: Polysleep offers a 0% financing option valid at all times, also during promotional sales periods. A Polysleep Queen size mattress retails for $1050, while the Endy mattress will cost you $895. However, Polysleep offers a better quality/price ratio with more features built into its mattress: integrated support frame, liquid-repellent cover, antimicrobial foam and more... Also be sure to check if there’s any rebate when you’re going to order!
