The Origin 2.0 Mattress vs ENDY Original Mattress

Did you know that we spend around a third of our lives asleep? — that's almost 25 years for an average lifespan of 80 years! Given these figures, it's obvious that choosing the right mattress is essential for a good night's sleep.

Today, we offer a detailed comparison of two mattresses: Origin 2.0 by Polysleep and ENDY Original. We'll be looking at the characteristics of each mattress, from its structure and firmness to its water resistance and response to movement.

This analysis is not based on simple information gathered from the internet but on experience. For this study, we ordered an ENDY Original mattress and then tested both mattresses under the same environmental conditions. For an in-depth, impartial study, we asked 4 members of our team to give us their personal opinions.

Each mattress has been thoroughly scrutinized to enable you to make an informed decision. However, bear in mind that choosing a mattress is above all subjective. Expectations of firmness, for example, differ from person to person. So, it's up to you to decide which mattress best suits your preferences and lifestyle.

Unboxing: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

Let's begin this duel by unpacking each mattress. While this preliminary step may seem trivial, it actually contains clues to the rest of your experience. After all, the first impression is often the right one!

Origin 2.0 Mattress

The box weighs between 33 pounds for a twin size and 64 pounds for a king size, so it's always best for two people to carry it.

All mattresses from Polysleep come in minimalist-looking boxes made from recycled and fully compostable cardboard to reduce the carbon footprint. Even if the process of unboxing is simple as 1,2,3 there is a QR code on the box that goes in dept in the process and give additional information on the mattress.

It opens from the top when the box is leaning horizontally on the ground, kind of like a pizza box. The instruction on the box makes it easy to quickly understand how to open the box to reveal the vacuum-packed rolled mattress.

The box contains only the mattress and one small paper insert. There are no additional tools such as a cutter to avoid as much waste as possible.

Once you remove the mattress from the 2 plastic bags - carefully with a pair of scissors or a knife - the mattress instantly takes is shape in seconds. The mattress will take 24 hours to fully expand, but most of the job to sleep on it is already done within the first seconds. When we unpacked this mattress, we didn't smell anything like some other roll-packed mattresses do.

Endy Original Mattress

With a weight ranging from 43 pounds for a double mattress to 92 pounds for a king-size mattress, ENDY is a little heavier. Two people are needed to carry it.

The ENDY mattress box is decorated with the brand's logo, created using dyes.

The unpacking process is fairly straightforward, with a pull-out tab that makes it easy to open the box horizontally.

The box also opens from the top when placed horizontally. The mattress it contains is also rolled and vacuum-packed in a plastic wrapper.

The box contains a user manual, as well as a disposable plastic cutter.

The mattress also takes a few seconds to return to its normal shape. It will take around 24 hours to fully unfold.

We noticed a slight chemical odor on unpacking, but this dissipated within a few hours.

Construction: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

Our sleep experts are curious by nature. In this section, we analyze the structure and composition of each mattress in detail. This enables us to identify their potential in terms of comfort and durability to help you make an informed choice.

Origin 2.0 Mattress

Polysleep's Origin 2.0 mattress features 3 layers of premium foam. It measures approximately 10 inches in thickness.

The mattress, which is CertiPUR-US certified, is made entirely of foam. It contains no latex or harmful chemicals. The top layer is ISO 20743 certified, confirming its antibacterial properties.

Breathable cover: water-resistant and removable by zipper. Machine washable.

Antimicrobial comfort layer (1 inch): ISO 20743-certified antimicrobial foam. The top layer prevents the proliferation of microbes and mites. In addition to promoting healthy sleep, it guarantees a longer mattress life.

Transition layer (2 inches): the middle layer is made of aerated foam, which effectively isolates movement and vibration within the mattress. This material also facilitates air circulation. The result: a more stable mattress that's always fresh.

Support layer (7 inches): this base layer provides incomparable support and reinforcement. Made up of millions of foam cells, it redistributes weight evenly, for exceptional comfort.

Cover: made of knitted polyester.

Comfort layer: made of memory foam, designed to regulate temperature and reduce pressure.

Transition layer: made of polyurethane foam, acts as an intermediary between the top layer and the support layer.

Support layer: a thicker base made of high-density polyurethane. Suitable for all seasons.

Firmness - Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

Firmness plays a crucial role in the support and comfort level of a mattress, and therefore, influences sleep quality. It is not scientifically measurable and does not depend solely on foam density.

As already mentioned, the ideal degree of firmness is above all subjective. It depends, for example, on the sleeper's preferred sleeping position. For this comparison, our data is therefore based above all on the feelings and experiences of our testers.

For a more impartial experience, we tested each mattress under the same outdoor conditions. Room temperature was 18°C and humidity 28%. Both mattresses were placed on the same Polysleep base, the latter having a major impact on firmness. We waited a week after unpacking.

Each mattress was tested by 4 people for 30 minutes, and we used a subjective scale from 1 to 10 to assess firmness.

SOFT
FIRM

Designed to satisfy a variety of sleep preferences, the Origin 2.0 mattress offers an intermediate firmness.

It is ideal for those seeking the optimum balance between support and comfort. Strategically alternating layers of high-quality foam ensure consistent support for all sleeper profiles. Whether you sleep on your back, stomach, or side, the Origin 2.0 mattress will adapt to your natural sleeping position.

We'd rate the firmness of Origin 2.0 at 7/10.

As the mattress structure is made up of total layers, we don't recommend it for users weighing over 220 lbs. For people over 220 lbs, it's best to invest in a mattress with reinforced support zones, such as the Zephyr 2.0 or Aura Mattresses. These will ensure better spinal alignment.

Firmness

SOFT
FIRM

With its moderate firmness, the ENDY mattress distributes the sleeper's weight evenly.

It's a good choice if you're looking for a softer mattress. Note, however, that ENDY is less firm than the Origin 2.0 mattress, offering less support. In addition, a lower firmness generally indicates a potentially shorter mattress life.

We would rate ENDY's firmness level at 5/10.

Water Test: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

When choosing a mattress, its resistance to water and other liquids is a feature often overlooked. And yet, a water-repellent mattress is always a better choice, as it can better withstand the potential damage caused by liquids over time.

With a water-repellent mattress, you can have breakfast in bed without worrying about coffee stains!

Origin 2.0 Mattress

The Origin 2.0 mattress features a lightweight, water-resistant, breathable cover. The cover is easily removable for washing.

For our water test, we poured around 2 cups of water onto the mattress surface. The water was instantly repelled by the water-repellent cover and drained directly onto the floor. The remaining liquid was wiped away, leaving no trace. To have a full waterproof protection, we would suggest adding our waterproof mattress protector.

Endy Original Mattress

Although the ENDY mattress cover is breathable and also removable, it is not water-repellent. To overcome this problem, the brand suggests adding a mattress protector, which may limit air circulation.

We carried out the same test on this mattress, also pouring two cups full of water over it. The mattress instantly absorbed all the water. It is, therefore, essential to add water-repellent protection to the mattress to avoid any long-term deterioration caused by liquids.

Motion Test: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

You've probably already experienced this situation: you're sleeping peacefully, immersed in a sweet dream, when a sudden movement from your darling abruptly pulls you out of your reverie. To avoid this kind of scenario, it's important to choose a mattress that limits motion transfer.

Origin 2.0 Mattress

The Origin 2.0 mattress is designed to effectively limit motion transfer and disturbance caused by sudden movements.

To carry out this test, we placed a glass of wine upright on the mattress. Then, one of our employees jumped onto the bed. Result: the wine glass remained upright.

Endy Original Mattress

Despite fairly good motion isolation, the ENDY mattress is less able to limit motion transfer. The sleeper is, therefore, more likely to be disturbed by sudden disturbances during the night.

Our wine glass test produced a different result for ENDY: it fell after a few jumps by our tester.

Edge Support: Origin 2.0 vs Endy Original

The degree of edge support is a key feature of a mattress. It is this characteristic that determines its stability and tendency to sag over time.

Good edge support not only maximizes the mattress's overall support. It also ensures a uniform level of comfort from the center to the edges. Firm edges also guarantee a solid mattress boundary, so you can enjoy a peaceful night's sleep without falling off!

Origin 2.0 Mattress

The Origin 2.0 mattress benefits from fairly sturdy edges capable of absorbing weight with relative efficiency.

For this test, our testers simply sat on the edges of the mattress. The edges provided good weight support.

However, if edge support is particularly important to you, we recommend the Polysleep Mattress with a support frame.

Endy Original Mattress

In terms of edge support, the ENDY mattress proved less effective than the Origin 2.0 mattress.

At the time of testing, the edges offered less support to our testers, sagging more under their weight.

A mattress to avoid if edge support is an essential consideration for you.
